Thoughts of Home

Thoughts of Home explored home as something carried through memory, material and connection rather than contained by a single building.

Layered and translucent materials, fragments of imagery and collaborative work considered how places, objects and personal histories become carriers of belonging. The project extended an ongoing interest in the way memory is held, reconstructed and given material form.

My Master's in Fine Art

In 2025, I completed a Master of Fine Art at Falmouth University, an experience that was both transformative and deeply personal. At 17, I had originally hoped to study Fine Art but was encouraged to take a different path, graduating in printed textiles from the Scottish College of Textiles. Although creativity has always been central to my life, it took many years, and a journey through running my own business, before I found my way back to the ambition I'd held when I was younger.

Returning to study gave me the space to question, experiment and reflect on my practice in ways I hadn't been able to before. It helped me develop a deeper understanding of my relationship with landscape, memory and belonging, and the potential for materials to carry their own histories and meaning. More than anything, it gave me the confidence and clarity to pursue my work as a full-time artist.

The experience culminated in Regeneration, my final Master's exhibition at the Abbey Church in North Berwick. It felt particularly meaningful to exhibit work inspired by the local landscape in a space overlooking the John Muir Way, with the very landscape that had shaped my practice visible beyond the windows. There was something wonderfully fitting about that connection between the work, the place and the journey I'd taken to get there. In many ways, it felt less like an ending and more like the beginning of a new chapter.
